Meet Ötzi: The Story Behind the Name and the People Driving the Mission
We realized we’ve been so heads-down in building that we haven’t properly introduced ourselves—or shared the story behind our name. So, here’s a quick update:
Who We Are
We’re four students from different backgrounds—project management, pharma, product development, and marketing—brought together by one shared mission:
To make medical identification permanent, painless, and always accessible through microneedle tattoo technology.
Jacob Sessions – CEO
Jacob leads strategy and regulatory at Überlube, a consumer medical device brand, and previously formulated for companies like Blistex, Medline, and Concept Labs. He’s also a patent-pending inventor, SCC committee member, and has only two tattoos (for now). Jacob brings deep industry knowledge, a love for disruption, and a clear vision for where we’re headed.
My Le – Marketing Director
Currently working on the future of Listerine at Kenvue (formerly J&J), My also has hands-on experience from Colgate-Palmolive in skincare R&D. She heads media efforts for the MBS program at Rutgers and is active in the NYSCC. With her beauty industry experience and love for tattoos, My brings creativity and strategic spark to the brand.
Keiera Parker – CFO
Keiera splits her time between Rutgers and Johnson & Johnson, where she works on CAR-T therapy operations—specifically MOI(Multiplicity of Infection) testing and batch quality. Her background in gene therapy and pharmaceutical quality gives us a solid foundation in science and operations.
Paavana Jayaram – Director of Product Development
A full-time student with three years of pharmaceutical experience in India, Paavana is driven by the goal of making life-saving therapies more accessible. She’s all about collaboration and big-picture thinking, and brings sharp insight into drug development and innovation.
So… Why “Ötzi”?
Our name is inspired by Ötzi the Iceman, a mummified body discovered frozen in the Alps. He is believed to have had the oldest known human to have tattoos1. His body—frozen in time—told us a story, thousands of years later. We’re inspired by that.
At Ötzi, we believe in telling stories through skin. With our microneedle tattoo tech, we’re taking one of the oldest art forms and turning it into something functional, protective, and always present.
Always Present. Always Protected.
That’s our mission and we’re just getting started.
